http://mikesfilmtalk.com , has nominated me for an award… ( palm smack to the forehead! ). I am new to his Blog, and have followed him for about a month (silently, I might add). He has a pretty interesting blog, so go check him out!
I tend to do that a bunch, I follow about 100 different blogs, but I am the silent type. I will read it and if it touches me, then I will like it, but I am a little hesitant about leaving words, call me shy. (hehehe)
I guess, I am on the same page about accepting awards, I am a little bashful, but puffed up with pride at the same token. Who knew, that someone other than myself actually reads what I write about. Mike’s theory is that with the awards, it’s also about promoting your Blog, as well as some of the one’s you follow. That’s ok though… Here are the “rules” so to speak…
1. Give credit to the person who chooses to nominate you, check
2. Answer the “Super Sweet” questions. check…
3. Nominate a “Baker’s Dozen”, check….
The super sweet questions are:
1. Cookies or cake? Uhm….I hate to burst the bubble on the first question, but, I really don’t like sweets. but, I do like thin mint cookies of the Girl Scout variety.
2. Chocolate or vanilla. Chocolate every time.( I do have a weakness for M&M’s though)
4.When do you crave sweet things the most? I don’t crave sweet things, now ask me about a bag of potato chips, or “crisps”…
5. If you had a sweet nickname what would it be? I’ll leave this one, after all my blog is rated G. hehehe…
Nominate my Baker’s donzen…. Gosh….here goes…
Thank you once again to Mike, and Congrats to all who are nominated!!!
I have been nominated for the Blog of the year award for 2012…..WOWZERS!!!!
I was nominated by http://terry1954.wordpress.com. I have followed Terry for quite a while now, as we are both in similar situations. Head on over to her blog and check her out.
The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:
1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award
2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.
3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them
6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…
Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!
When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!
There are a total of 6 stars to collect.
Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!
Here are my nominations….
1. http://russtowne.com, I have followed Russ for quite sometime, and I always enjoy his posts. I’ve even re-blogged some of them….
I started this blog one year ago today. This blog has helped me in so many different ways. But before I get into that, let me just state some of those blogging “statistics”
In one year (365 days), I’ve made 408 posts. I’ve also had 537 comments. I’ve only just broke the 100 followers, and for that I am grateful. My best day according to the statistic thingy, (that I don’t really pay attention to), was the day I had my blog read by over 200 people. WOW…
Now, what my blog means to me. Before I started writing, I used to have a bunch of melt downs. I would look at my situation, and get overwhelmed, and cry a lot. I decided one day, I wanted to start blogging. I asked a friend of mine from High School, (yea, even after 33 years, I still have some of my closest friends are the one’s I went to High School, well…actually boarding school with). This person had a blog, and after a flurry of e-mails, he told me where to go and how to set it up, and then stated, “Go for it”.
My beginning was hesitant, for anyone who’s read those first posts, well, they leave a lot to be desired. But then something happened, and I just started letting it flow. I wanted to tell my story. The fact that people other than my family have read it, means something special to me. Then, I started meeting people through this thing called “cyber space”. People commented, and I was a little shocked. I have to admit, I wasn’t really up on what the blogging world “manners” were. To this day, I still lack some of those “manners” but I am trying.
When I first started writing, I wasn’t sure how to do it. But then, something clicked in me, especially when I received a comment from another blogger who told me I “was” a writer, and to just let it flow. Since then, I’ve tried to invite all of y’all into my life. At times, after I have posted something, I feel very vulnerable, open and exposed. But then I realized, if someone who is dealing with Parkinson’s Disease, or has PD or is any way involved with it, maybe MY experience will help them.
My blog, pretty much chronicles, my past years experience with this horrible disease. I have actually gone back and read every post for the past year. Some I can giggle and laugh about, other’s I am brought back to those horrible times. What I do know, is that my Grankids, and my family at least will have some type of record of everything.
Friends? Oh MY GOODNESS!!! I can’t even begin to tell you the friendships that have been made because of this blog. To each of you and YOU know who you are, Thank you! From reaching out to me, to e-mailing me privately, to calling me, and putting a voice with the blog, although, to be honest, some of your accents have well…been music to my ears. Fort the longest time, I thought I was the only one to deal with stuff like Parkinson’s. To find friends in same situations, and also to friends that are actually suffering from this. Well, I have a lot of Blessings.
Last night I blogged about the tailspin. I had a few e-mails from different people, giving me advice, and other stuff, to just support. One friend actually e-mailed me all night with giggles, to get me to come around, YOU know who you are and “Guido” will be paying you a visit. (sorry kids, personal joke).
I guess my point is this, I am SO GLAD I started blogging, to the new friends that I have made, to the release of emotion that goes with my blog, to helping me keep my sanity in some insane times.
We (The Farmer and I and my family) have reached a new level with this Parkinson’s thing, but we are adapting and making it work.
By seriously, from Camsgranny to you, my readers, thank you, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my blog!!!!
It appears I was nominated for another award. Thanks to Terry1954.
While I have already received this one, I am thankful for receiving it again.
I would like to share with you the Electrician’s response when I told him I had been nominated for another award. His response “You’ve been nominated for the Dork of the Year Award?” (This is a private thing between the Electrician, while I am his dork, he is MY geek hehehe)
Uhm….no, but thanks for the nomination!. Thank you Terry, you have no idea what you mean to me, and you are truly special. I hope all of my readers, enjoy or at least stop and think about what I post.
I have been nominated for the One lovely blog award, by letstalkaboutfamily.wordpress.com. First off I would love to say Thank You. When I am nominated for awards, I kind of go mushy inside, and realize that people are really reading my blog, and sometimes my inner most thoughts.
letstalkaboutfamily, My friend Terry introduced me to her blog. It is a woman who is dealing with her Father who has Alzheimer’s. I have brief knowledge of this disease as well, as some of my family have dealt with it.
Since, I have received this award before, I already have the logo in my sidebar, For those of you that have read my acceptance “speech’s”, you know I don’t necessarily like to nominate other people, because so people do not like to get awards.
But I will tell you, that if I find a blog that I really enjoy, I usually try to share it with people that read my blog.
While I did not post last night, I had a really good evening with the Electrician. It was long over due, and we spent some time talking, holding hands, talking and listening to some music.
I hadn’t really thought about blogging, I had read some of the blogs I follow, and then found some new ones, thanks to other bloggers. For me, when I find a new blog that really smacks me in the face with some new thoughts, I take a day or so to absorb it. I went back today and read this blog today, and it still hit me again. The blog is professionsforpeace.com. I was sent there by russtowne.com. I have just started following Russ, but I really enjoy the things he has to say.
Anyhow, in my evening, I truly forgot to blog. I have now understood that certain people follow my blog, because I got 2 phonecalls today, asking if everything was ok. “Uhm…yea, why?” “Well…you didn’t blog last night and I want to know what’s going on and if everything is ok?”
To all of the concerned peeps, it’s all good in my hood. As for my day yesterday, it was ok. I trained yet another girl for Momma, and I like this one and hopes she stays. I think Momma liked her. Momma and I whispered about the secret we’ve got going on. Yes, jmgoyder.com I will spill the beans, and you get a really good giggle out of this one.
After tending to Momma and the Farmer (who put his crockpot into motion this morning with the succulent beef stew I had set up yesterday), I flew to do my errands.
Now mind you, I think Ms. Baby had something going on in her mind yesterday as she woke my unhappy butt up at 5:45, and I figured ok, I’ll sleep in tomorrow (today, and psst…I did, 7:45 never looked so good). But I digress, I got up and started laundry at my house and then dusted, mopped, vacuumed, and cleaned the downstairs bathroom. The only thing I had left was to clean the upstairs bathroom, dust, vacuumed and wipe down the kitchen.
I left the Farmer’s and went (wait for it folks), to 2 different Grocery Stores, did my shopping, CAME IN UNDER BUDGET (this is 2 weeks in a row, wow, call me butter I’m on a roll).
I got home and my BFF was here with her son, they had come to give me a present, (they love me..awwww). I left the Groceries in the Rav4 for the Electrician (he was home it was a short day Saturday) to unload and I visited with my bud. I see her all the time but this is the first time in a long time, she’s stopped by.
We chatted and set some tentative plans for next weekend. (it seems strange to say, even though we live around the corner from each other, she has a busy life as do I.) I also got PERMISSION to go raid the corn field.
So, one day really soon, I am making sure Ms. Baby gets me up early and I am going corn picking. This is usually how I get all my frozen corn to keep me going over the winter months. I go pick about 4 dozen and then cut the corn off the cob and freeze it. That’s how I have Sweet Corn at Christmas…:)
After she left and I put away the Groceries, I looked around and that wonderful man the Electrician had finished everything that was on my list to do as far as cleaning, and I didn’t have anything left to do other than to take a nap with him.
So all in all I had a good day yesterday, and I didn’t mean to make people worry about me. But thanks for the phonecalls!!!
I received another award, and I am blushing, (seriously, I think I did a back flip, and still haven’t recovered).
I would like to thank Genie for this award. Y’all need to go over and check her out, because I really enjoy her blog. You can find her at geniespeaks.wordpress.com
There are a couple of rules with this award here they are.
- Include the award logo somewhere in your blog. (check)
- Answer the following 10 questions. (check)
- Nominate 10-12 blogs you enjoy. (working on it)
- Provide links to these blogs and let the bloggers know that they’ve been nominated. (working on it)
- Thank and link your nominator ( check!)
The 10 questions are as follows:
What is your favorite color? hmm, mostly purple, but it can change given my mood.
What is your favorite animal? This one is easy, wolves, cats and tigers. I don’t have just one.
What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink? Sweet Tea, with a twist of lemon, can drink it by the gallon….
Do you prefer Facebook or Twitter? Facebook, simply for the fact, I am a Twitter idiot, I still haven’t figured it out.
What’s your passion? Hmm..First and foremost my family, writing, photography, and reading (I have varied interests).
What’s your favorite pattern? I may have misinterpreted this question, but my favorite pattern is routine.
What’s your favorite number? Has been and always will be my lucky number 7.
Favorite day of the week? When I was working, Friday, but now? Everyday, that I wake up is a Blessing.
Favorite flower? Hmm, this one made me think, first instinct would be to say a rose, but as I’ve gotten older, I would have to say anything that is grown outside, I don’t really like cut flowers because they die, but if it is a flower plant outside, I really enjoy those. Now if you asked what kind of outdoor plant I like, that’s a given Hostas!
What is on my mind today: Today, I really don’t have anything on my mind, it is a down day for me. They are few and far between, because of my normal daily obligations. But I do “feel” Blessed by all that I have and all of the wonderful people in my life. (Uhm, check with me tomorrow, when random thoughts will come and go).
My next task with this award is to nominate other bloggers….
Being as it is a down day, Can I get back to you on this one? I would like to check first with the people I nominate, because not all of the blogs I would nominate might not want an award, so out of respect for them, I’m going to check first. Look for “Call me butter, I’m on a roll part two” OK?
Ok kids, now I’ve been completely blown away, in the past two days, I’ve received 2 blogger awards. I don’t know how to act. It is very rarely that I am “silenced” so to speak.
Thanks to Terry1954.wordpress.com for nominating me for this one.
The rules are the same for the other award I recieved, however, tonite I am to tired to do the rest, so I promise that I will finish this tomorrow, I was just so darn excited about the award, I wanted to acknowledge it .
I’ve been writing my blog for 9 months now. I originally started writing my blog because, I had a lot of things to say, and emotions that I felt, and this was my way of releasing them. In the first few months of my blog, I slowly got more readers. When I hit over 400 (ok, maybe by 2), I was overwhelmed that so many people would be interested in anything I had to say. (Actually, the Electrician would tell you I did a Happy dance all over the sports room, but since I’m writing this he won’t tell you.)
I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Southern-wild, and y’all really need to go check her out, at www.southern-wild.com. I’ve been sneaking in and reading her page for quite a while. She does some amazing photography.
With the award comes a list of rules:
1. Link Back to the person who nominated you
2. Write seven things about yourself
3. Nominate 15 or so fellow bloggers, and leave a note on their blog to let them know.
Ok, number one, check.
number 2. Uhm.. 7 things about myself… hmm….well ok here goes.
1. I am exactly 4 feet and 11 inches tall, I had to get a waiver signed by the President of the United States to join the Air Force, because of the height requirement. (Although what with getting older I may have shrunk to 4 feet and 10 1/2 inches)
2. I worked in the Insurance Industry for over 20 years, but enjoyed being a waitress/bartender more than any other job I had.
3. I conquered my fear of heights when I ziplined in Jamaica with my Sister-in-law.
4. My world is my family.
6. I have realized in the wisdom of my 50 years, life is to short,(so am I) and things can change on a dime, so I try to live my life to the fullest each and everyday.
7. I have started working out lately, (The Electrician has done it for YEARS, and been bugging me to do it). While I do work out everyday, if anyone were to see me (Because I will not work out if anyone can see me), I appreciate the fact that I am not the star in a workout video, and it’s pretty amusing to watch. (The Electrician saw me working out, and actually laughed. I guess I’m not the most coordinated person on the planet).
Ok, number 2, check.
Now onto some nominations. And I will make a confession here, while I follow quite a few different blogs, there are only a few that I read on a daily basis. I usually try to catch up with most of the others over the weekend.
So, with that being said, here are a few of my favorites.
terry1954.wordpress.com, Terry touches my heart, while we are in similar positions with Parkinson’s. Terry cares for her brother Al, while I care for Momma, and we both go through a lot of the same emotions. Terry is also a brilliant story-teller.
happinessstanlives.wordpress.com This blog rocks my world. First off, I was raised in the part of London where they live. The recipes and photo’s make me happy.
singlikenooneslistening.wordpress.com. I have followed this blog since I started blogging. Rachel was an Au Pair in Australia, who has since returned home back to the United States, and I have been a tourist of Australia through her.
kittyblogger.wordpress.com I love this one simply because folks, I am a cat person and where they get the photo’s of cat’s floors me but it usually gives me a giggle.
jmgoyder.com. I have followed this blog for quite a while. She actually has two blogs, and I follow both of them. Julie’s husband has Parkinson’s and we have shared a lot of things.
So, while I follow a lot more blogs than the above mentioned, some of my other favorites have already received this esteemed award.
So….from Camsgranny, thanks y’all. I feel special! 🙂
I was given an award by fellow blogger jmgoyder.wordpress.com . This is an award made up by Julie, and the fun thing is You can accept or not. There are no rules to follow, no questions to answer. You just accept it and put it in your blog, or not, the choice is up to you. You can nominate anyone you want.
