Yesterday, was a snowy cold day. I was kind of glad that I did not have to get up early and head over to the Farmer’s. Caregiver Beth went and got Momma up, and I
goofed off did stuff around the house most of day.
We were forecasted to get anywhere between 2-6 inches, of the white stuff. While the morning looked like a winter wonderland, it tapered off in the afternoon. All in all it was about an inch and a half.
While the blizzard was going on, the Electrician called the Nursing student, to ask if she wanted him to drive her in the morning to take her LPN License test. We both had forgotten that the Fisher Dude is off work right now for the Holiday. While she said no, she didn’t need a ride, we could watch Cam-man if we wanted to.
After talking with her for a bit more, the Electrician and I had our own little chit-chat, and we called the Nursing student back. It was decided that on my way home from putting Momma to bed, I would swing by and pick up Cam-man for an over night stay at Papa & Memaw’s house.
Now while Cam-man has stayed the night with just me, and actually it was for 3 days, he was only about 5 months old. (The Fisher dude’s Father had passed away, and I kept Cam, so they could go to the funeral.) It’s been awhile.
After taking care of things at the Farmer’s, I called the Nursing student to let her know I was on the way, and she said, she would have lil man ready. I pulled up in the driveway, and the garage door opened, and the Fisher dude was there smiling at me. I went ahead and put the car seat in my car, and the Fisher dude went and got Cam-Man’s mattress and pillow and put it into the Rav4.
Cam man came out with his Momma, and gave her love, then the Fisher dude put Cam into my car. The Nursing student was giving me last-minute instructions, and I’m kinda glad she did. “Don’t forget his night-time prayer, he usually holds either Buzz’s hand or his Teddy bears okay?” So I asked her which night-time prayer she uses. Phew, I’m glad I asked The one I remembered would have sent him screaming into the night thinking his Memaw was trying to kill him.
As we were leaving her house, I called the Electrician and told him we would be there in a few minutes. On the ride over, Cam-man was full of information and talked my ear off. As we were approaching my street, I heard from the back seat, “We’re here! Memaw, 2”.
Papa came out of the house and helped me unload, and Cam-man told us where he wanted his bed to go. At first, it was in our bedroom at the end of the bed. That would change a little later on during the evening.
Cam-man had his last little mug of Chocolate milk, and then he started getting a little droopy eyed. He told his Papa, he wanted his mattress in the front room, and for Papa to sleep next to him on the couch. We all said prayers (Buzz AND Teddy were included).
I have to backtrack a little bit here. Cam-Man loves to tell us he loves us, but he has his own special way of doing it. Now mind you, he can say, I Love You. Most times though if you ever notice, when you tell someone you love them, they respond with “I Love You too”. Well, Cam can be a lil dude of few words so, he cuts straight to the chase and just says 2.
After hugs and kisses, and a bunch of 2’s. Little dude fell asleep.
He slept throughout the night, with only one crazy incident. Apparently Papa woke up one time and didn’t see Cam-man, so he started looking around. Lil dude had rolled off the mattress, so Papa, rolled him back onto the mattress and went back to sleep. I
hogged the bed slept in the bedroom, by myself, because I had to get up early to head over to the Farmer’s.
The alarm went off, and I crept around trying not to wake up my 2 sleeping dudes. But they both were oh so cute. I arrived at the Farmer’s, and the Electrician called me to ask where the Oatmeal was for lil dude’s breakfast.
Apparently the whole thing was a success, and Cam-man only got upset once for his Momma, but hugged his papa and said 2.
First ever official sleep over was a success. I can see a few more of these in the future.
See this little dude? He gave us the scare of our lives last night. I can write about it tonite, because he is okay. The Electrician and I were relaxing and in our p.j.s when we got a hysterical phone call from the Nursing Student, she was pretty hysterical at the time, and it was a little hard to decipher . When the Electrician hung up the phone and moved into action, I was right behind him. We threw on boots, and hoodies, and down the road we went.
Apparently our little Cam-man thinks he truly is a Monkey and can climb onto anything. He had climbed onto his dresser to get to his t.v. that was on top of it, and all came crashing down on him. The Electrician and I went flying down the road, and scooped up the Nursing Student and Cam Man. He clung to both his Momma and I, and was rattled. When I asked him if he was ok, he said yes, when I asked him if it scared him he said yes.
The Electrician drove all of us in a car familiar to us. (It’s my old car I gave to the nursing student). The weather last night? It sucked major twinkies…Snow, ice and just otherwise nasty conditions. We pulled up to the ER and the Nursing student and Cam Man got out of the car, and the Electrician and I went to park it, when we ran into the Fisher dude. He had left work to come see what had happened to his son.
I have never felt as helpless as I did last night. Well actually I have, but I am learning something. It’s one of those “lessons”, I keep talking about. The Electrician and I hung around until it was time to take Cam-Man back for some tests. The Electrician still had to go to work today, and well it was kinda late. We said our good-byes, and headed down the road.
This is where it gets funny…so I may have a warped sense of humor, but, the Electrician and I are at the stop light and he asked me, “What are all these lights on the dashboard mean?” I lean over and look, and it hits me…”Uhm, honey, she needs some anti-freeze, but that one light? You had better hit a gas station soon, because we have about 1 mile to go and we are gonna be in trouble. ” So, we pull into the gas station pronto, and then it hits both of us, we flew out of the house, I had nothing on me, the Electrician’s wallet was in the Truck, but it ended up being in his hoodie pocket. It had exactly $7.00 in it, and that’s what we put into the Nursing Student’s car for gas. We got to her house and parked her car, and grabbed out truck and flew home.
The Electrician went to bed, but did not sleep very well, me? I stayed up just praying and hoping everything was okay. We all got very lucky with lil dude, he was ok. WHEW… this lil dude is all boy and will give us a few more heart shakers I believe this.
Today, I was supposed to stay home all day, but Caregiver Beth has had a hard time lately. Her Dad has had a couple of strokes and things are not looking good. While I went over and got Momma up, I was a little frustrated. I have a bunch of things that I felt I needed to get done.
But to tell you the truth, when I got home tonite, and the Electrician has been with me on this journey….We had already had plans for tonite…we did our thing….We shut off all the lights and watched The Polar Express, and cuddled on the couch. We both cried at certain parts of the movie….
I’m at peace with everything. I can’t explain it.. I don’t want to even try. I know in my heart I Believe…Period….
My Monday started off kind of rough. I really didn’t sleep that well last night. The Electrician had to go to bed kind of early because his day started off at 4 am, they changed his hours and he has to be at work by 6 am. So, he went to bed kinda early for me last night. Me? I stayed up to watch “Fallen Skies” on TNT. I think I am seriously addicted to this show. When it was over, and I turned off all the lights and went in to get into bed, well….let’s just say, he say’s I snore? I ended up on the couch for a while. I did make it to the bed finally though.
The Electrician gave me a hug and kiss when he left this morning, and I’ll admit it, my happy butt rolled over and I probably started snoring. I managed to surface at about 6:45 am, and jumped out of bed (that sounds so much better than, dragged my butt out of bed groaning). I went upstairs and got some coffee, and came back downstairs and got on the computer and played the million games of Words with Friends, I have going on right now. (I will win eventually). I decided I had better get busy though because, I had a big and long day planned.
I did all the domestic diva things I needed to do, also, I did my 30 minute Hip Hop Ab workout, and then went on down the road to the Farmer’s. First thing I did when I got there was make another cup of coffee, and then the Farmer and I discussed our game plan for the week. You see, the Farmer has an appointment on Friday to get his blood drawn, and a Doctor’s appointment next week. So, we had a big breakfast today, and he enjoyed his bacon, hash browns, and eggs. Today is the last day he gets it until next week. (I think I saw a tear run down his face at that). For the next few days, he is getting cereal, oatmeal, and granola. (I’m giggling over that last one).
I made his breakfast and then ran over to the other house and worked out on the weights for another 15 minutes, then came back and went and got Momma up. Momma was shining today, full of smiles, giggles and just over all good stuff.
I gave her a bath, and asked her what she wanted to wear, she declared that since it was Monday it was a baby blue kinda day, and we went with it. Momma was a ray of sunshine today, which is a lot different from Saturday night when I put her into bed. I asked her if she remembered the “bed dancing”, she didn’t but it’s okay, because I do.
I finished up (even making the Farmer 2 bacon tomato sammiches), laundry was done, and Momma was set, so I left there to head on down the road to the Nursing Student‘s house. She had to work tonite, so I filled in the 30 minutes that there was no one to take care of little man.
When I got there he was still napping. The Nursing Student and I talked for a bit, and then , yep, Cam-Man made a noise, and the Nursing Student told me, “There’s your boy”. Hehehe….I went into his room, and he looked up from his crib, and said “Hey Geema”. He got all excited and I got him up from his nap. He told his Momma by, and gave her loving.
I asked Cam-Man what he wanted to do. “OUTSIDE” was his reply. I told him to get his shoes and we would go out in the back yard. We went out into the back yard and played for a bit. The Fisher dude and the Nursing student have a new addition to their family. Cam-Man showed it to me. They have a turtle in an aquarium, he’s pretty cute, and BIG. Cam-Man took joy in explaining it to me.
The Fisher dude had to work over for a bit and the Nursing student called and apologized, and I told her “No Worries”. Cam-Man and I were having fun, but like I explained to her, I don’t know how to work your t.v. After explaining it to me, we got the t.v. on and Cam-Man got to watch “Word-Girl“.
The Fisher-dude arrived, disheveled and tired and said Thanks. I scooted down the road to my house to throw dinner together for the Electrician. I beat him home by about 30 minutes. Whew…..
I am so used to having a routine, that with all of the changes in my house right now, we are working on a new routine. We’ll find it. We have a few bugs to work out, but it’s still good in my hood.
At least I think I will sleep good tonite.
While I realize that today is not Father’s Day, when you have a large family, sometime’s you schedule events or “special” days around everyone’s schedule well for most of my family, today was the day.
The day dawned, and the Electrician and I ran and did some errands. When we got home, I put an awesome rub on the 2 racks of baby back ribs we were going to grill out today. I shucked 6 ears of corn and got the Bourbon and brown sugar baked beans ready to go.
The Nursing student and I pulled a trick on the Fisher dude, and told him to be here by 1:00, (because usually, (and he admitted this), he is the reason they are late anywhere they go. Well..the Fisher dude arrived at my house at exactly 12:48, and asked where everyone was. I was in shock and told him to sit down. Apparently, he had been gone since early this morning Fishing. (That is part of his Father’s day). I told him, I was VERY impressed that he was on time!
Pretty soon, after we chatted for a bit, and he went out to the pond to continue fishing, the Nursing Student and Cam-Man made their arrival.
Cam-Man strutted in the house, as soon as he put a foot on the stairs he was shouting “Poppa“. He came upstairs and I met him at the stairs. I got a big hug, but he was still looking for his Poppa. He went to the window and checked to see if Poppa’s truck was there, and then he heard him on the stairs. The two had an awesome re-union with big hugs and sloppy kisses.
Both of them got shooed out of the house though. The Nursing Student was putting the finishing touches on the gift that her and Cam-Man had made for Poppa for Father’s Day.
Apparently (I had set up the pool yesterday), as soon as Cam-Man hit the deck on the outside he saw the pool and went running and was climbing in, when Poppa grabbed him and took off his shorts and shirt, and although one sandal got wet, they were also remove
This kid is a fish, and loves to swim and play, every single one of the family got in the pool with him at one time or another. I do have to laugh though, because the Nursing student is trying to “potty train” him. When I came out (everyone else was gone and it was my turn to watch him), he climbed out of the pool and started taking his diaper off. Next thing I knew, he aimed his little tallywacker and proceeded to pee in the pool. Not once, but in the course of the 2 hours he was in the pool, at least 4 other times. I think he’s getting the hang of it.
The College student showed up and took her turn in the pool with Cam-Man too.
Dinner was ready and we had to drag Cam-Man out of the pool, and we all went upstairs and seriously chowed down, Ribs, corn-on-the-cob, Bourbon and brown sugar baked beans and sliced watermelon. (burp, uhm, sorry). I love baked beans, so the Nursing student, however, both her and I were denied second helpings of the beans by our respective spouses. I have NO idea why.
After dinner, we laid Cam-Man down for a nap,AFTER he had gone around the room and given each one of us a kiss and told each of us, “I love you too” and then we all congregated downstairs, and the Collage student laid on the couch and stated she needed a nap, the Fisher dude stretched out in the recliner and agreed with her. The Electrician and I sat in our respective chairs, and the Nursing student kind of bounced from the recliner, to the couch, to just running into the garage fridge for another strawberry.
We laughed so much at the conversation that was carried over from the dinner table. Uhm, folks, my family is just straight up crazy. I won’t even go into detail about what we discuss, but the conversation downstairs was about suffocating on the College student‘s cleavage, and about her wanting to be “Octo-Mom” with one kid, to just giggling and out loud belly laughing about the kids craziness.
The College student had to run, she has a night life that she had to go take a nap for…:) The Fisher dude fell asleep in the recliner, and the Electrician, Nursing student and I all had a good time, just talking.
Let me take a minute to state, I loved these kids while they were growing up, but since they are grown up, I’ve learned, they are GREAT kids, but they are FRIENDS too.
Anyhoo, the Electrician had decided Cam-Man had a long enough nap, and went and woke him up, and Cam’s first thought was to go outside. Unknown to him, Poppa and I had taken down and emptied the pool. We went outside and a friend of the Electrician’s was in the back fishing with his 2 of 3 kids.
We all walked down towards the pond, and the Nursing student hadn’t seen Korry or his kids for a long time. Introductions were made (Fisher dude had never met him), and we proceeded to have a good time catching up. Meanwhile Cam-Man spotted the battery operated “car” that Korry’s kids arrived in and was all over that sucker. Korry told Cam to get in and drive. Cam-Man jumped in but had no clue how to drive it, so Korry’s son got in and gave Cam-Man a ride, all the way back up to the house and then around the driveway and back down to the pond. Korry’s son got out and went back to fishing, and Cam-Man was hooked.
Cam-Man’s feet couldn’t reach the gas pedal, and I took a ride with him, and showed him how to do it, IT WAS on after that. That little kid ran in circles with his Poppa and I egging him on. I think he just liked the wind in his hair and the fact, HE was driving.
It came to an end though, when I realized he was going to run the battery down, so I coaxed him out of the car, with a promise of a boat ride. The Electrician got the boat ready, and it was time for a boat ride. The Fisher dude put down his fishing pole, and the Nursing Student got ready and Cam_man climbed into the boat, and they went for their first paddle boat ride.
unfortunately for me, I had to scoot down the road, because I had promised to go to the Farmer’s to put Momma to bed. So, I’m not quite sure what else happened, but I will come back to it, as the Electrician told me what happened after I left.
I had promised Joyce, that I would go over and put Momma to bed tonite, because she had a “date” with her husband. I got to the Farmer’s and while Momma might have had a good day, it wasn’t a “good” evening.
The therapy police arrived and did some therapy with her, but Momma’s muscles were not responding. It happens sometimes. I did take a plate of food to the Farmer, and he enjoyed it. Momma was just griping because she really wants to taste something and eat with her mouth and not a tube. I explained everything to her AGAIN, but I do understand her frustration. I don’t think I would like it if I could not chew something and savor the flavor of it.
I got Momma into her bed, and comfy, and I even “bed danced” with her to the Lawrence Welk show. The Farmer laughed at us, but HEY, Momma liked it. After I made sure she was comfortable, I scooted down the road back to my house.
It’s been a day, and I’ll share the rest later, but for now, my serious thank you to all the Father’s out there.
Happy Father’s day to you all.
Well here it is Monday. Mine started a little (ok A LOT) earlier than I had anticipated. I was
hogging sleeping in the bed after the Electrician got up and got ready for work. He woke me up and kissed me, like he does every morning. I went back to sleep, like I do every morning. unfortunately, for me, my cat, Ms. Baby decided that she had turned into a lion (she was at the Garage window in her bed). I woke up to a LOUD snarling, growling, spitting, hysterical cat. I yelled at her to shut up, THAT didn’t work. So I got up and went to investigate, I figured it was probably the black cat that periodically travels around our neighborhood. Oops, my bad, I went into the garage and she was louder than all get out, I looked out the window, and was being stared at by 2 very red beady eyes. So, I went upstairs and turned the porch light on and, there was a rather large Possum trying to attack my little Lion through the window. The light scared it, and it left, but it took a little while for my Kitty (AKA little lion), to calm down.
I went up and got a cup of coffee, because there was no way I was going to able to get back to sleep after all that. So, I started my day a little earlier than I had planned. I went ahead and did my normal Monday routine and then left early for the Farmer’s house.
I got there and had a pow-wow with the Farmer, I also got a shopping list from the Farmer and some money. (GLORY BE, I got to go SHOPPING, AGAIN!!!)
I cooked breakfast, and got Momma up and bathed, and did some exercises with her. Apparently, Momma had a GOOD weekend. I got laundry started and then had to jet over to Cam-Man.
I got to the Nursing Student’s house and walked in the back door like normal, only to be handed a roll of wrapping paper and a roll of tape and the Nursing student went flying into the living room, running. What the heck? “Jo, Cam unwrapped one of my presents that was under the tree and the Fisher-dude told me NOT to open anything, and he won’t believe me if I told him what really happened, so re-wrap it for me PLEASE.” Laughing, I asked her “what happened?” “I was playing on the computer and Cam-man was playing with this box, and the next thing I knew he had it unwrapped, so I grabbed it, I didn’t see nothing, I swear, and threw it up on the counter and then you walked in.”. I’m sorry kids, all’s I could do was giggle my butt off and re-wrap the gift. (UHM….nice choice Fisher-Dude). And that’s all I’m going to say about THAT.
After about an hour of snuggling with Cam-Man, who has turned into quite the snuggler with me. He sat on my lap, and put his hand on my cheek and we had a little conversation, about how NOT to play with stuff under the tree, then we both just relaxed and hugged each other. I love that little dude.
I left the Nursing Student’s and proceeded to…you guessed it Wal-Mart. I got the Farmer’s Groceries, and some shopping for Momma. I bought her 3 new pair of sweat pants, I figure, because the waist is elastic it is easier to pull them up and down, and she will be able to handle it. Plus, they will keep her warm this winter. I only had one unauthorized purchase…..hehehe…I bought them a box of soft oatmeal cookies. I was forgiven by the Farmer for the unauthorized purchase (that AND I came in under budget).
I spent some time with Momma when I got back, she was really happy about her new pants. She asked me if I had done it so she wouldn’t be as much trouble as she was. I looked at her and replied, “You are no trouble to me, I do what I do, because I love you, I just thought it might help you, and keep you warm.” Momma grabbed my hand and looked me in the eyes, and said “I Love you, Joanne, thank you”.
Let’s just say that today was an EXCEPTIONAL day…nite all’…..
