Super Sweet Blogging Award…Hmm…

http://mikesfilmtalk.com , has nominated me for an award… ( palm smack to the forehead!  ).  I am new to his Blog, and have followed him for about a month (silently, I might add).  He has a pretty interesting blog, so go check him out!

I tend to do that a bunch, I follow about 100 different blogs, but I am the silent type.  I will read it and if it touches me, then I will like it, but I am a little hesitant about leaving words, call me shy.  (hehehe)

I guess, I am on the same page about accepting awards, I am a little bashful, but puffed up with pride at the same token.    Who knew, that someone other than myself actually reads what I write about.    Mike’s theory is that with the awards, it’s also about promoting your Blog, as well as some of the one’s you follow. That’s ok though… Here are the “rules” so to speak…

1. Give credit to the person who chooses to nominate you, check

2. Answer the “Super Sweet” questions.  check…

3. Nominate a “Baker’s Dozen”, check….

The super sweet questions are:

1. Cookies or cake? Uhm….I hate to burst the bubble on the first question, but, I really don’t like sweets.   but, I do like thin mint cookies of the Girl Scout variety.

2. Chocolate or vanilla. Chocolate every time.( I do have a weakness for M&M’s though)

3. What is your favourite sweet treat, cheesecake or frozen yoghurt?  I would have to admit, it would be a piece of homemade cherry cheesecake, but only about once a year…

4.When do you crave sweet things the most?  I don’t crave sweet things, now ask me about a bag of potato chips, or “crisps”…

5. If you had a sweet nickname what would it be?   I’ll leave this one, after all my blog is rated G.  hehehe…

Nominate my Baker’s donzen….  Gosh….here goes…

If all else fails…..

I am typing this post today, although it is technically about yesterday.  Bear with me here ok?

Yesterday, I got up early and headed over to the Farmer’s house and snuck in so he could sleep in.   I must have been pretty quiet, because he slept on.  I busied myself with making a cup of coffee, and lo and behold, I had run out of creamer at my house, so I was looking forward to a cup of coffee with my beloved hazelnut creamer in it.    I got momma’s med’s ready and then went into give them to her.

Momma was awake and had a smile on her face when she saw me.  She was quite chatty for it being 8 am in the morning.    I gave her the meds and she promptly went back to sleep.  I grabbed the coffee and was just sitting down to enjoy it, when the 2 “girls”  stopped me in my tracks.  Oops, I forgot to give them a treat.

The rest of the day kind of flew by, after I made the Farmer breakfast, he hit the road to run some errands, and I finished up his laundry, and also made some spaghetti sauce with meatballs, for his dinner over the weekend, and I put together my pork loin creation, that he loves.

I take a pork loin and butterfly it, then stuff it with stuffing and wrap the whole thing back together with bacon.    I threw some potato’s underneath the roast, so the potato’s would roast in the bacon drippings.

I got Momma up, and while she was not as cheerful as she was at 8 am, it was ok.    I finished up my stuff and then I hit the road.  I was on a mission.

The Electrician, and the Fisher Dude have a liking for auctions.  I have a bunch of stuff in my house, we have gotten from auctions.  There is an online auction going on right now, and you can view the stuff in the auction, but only during certain times.    I left the Farmer’s and drove 3 towns over to see a couple of items in the auction, to decide if we wanted to bid or not.  It took me about a half hour to get there and then I went inside.

Talk about feeling like a kid in a candy store.  This auction has about 1000 pieces in it.  I looked over the stuff we were interested in, and then got side tracked by a few other things.    Now, I don’t know about y’all, but I love the old-fashioned furniture, and antique stuff.   Plus, I like to try to figure out what kind of history an item has (yes, I’m a little wacko).  After looking everything over, I headed home.

I decided on the way home, I was going to make taco’s for dinner, because they are easy and for once, I had everything I needed to make them.    The Electrician arrived home, and logged onto my desktop computer and THAT’s when it happened.

My keyboard stopped working.   I have an HP desktop with a dell monitor, but my keyboard and mouse are wireless.  We figured out after a frantic call to the Farmer, that it was the batteries.  So…I ran to the store, bought more batteries, came home installed them and……nothing.

I could not get the keyboard to work for nothing.  I was devastated last night.  While we still have the laptop, I am unable to blog on it, because the program that runs it is so old, it’s not up to date with WordPress.  I swear, I tried everything I knew, but it would not work.

This morning I woke up and decided I would figure it out.  I found the diagnostic program, and ran that, nothing.  I am not a techy type of person, but I do have some working knowledge of computers, and I was flummoxed.

So, I dug into my closet and found some paperwork I brought home with me when I brought home the desk tower from the Farmer’s.  When all else fails, try to read the directions.   I found paperwork on what to do when the mouse and/or keyboard quit working.    Guess what?  It worked!!!

You would have thought, I was the one who won the Lottery, yelling and high fiving the Electrician once the keyboard started working again.

So, I guess the moral to this one is, if it doesn’t work, read the instructions, and then instead of 9 hours without a keyboard, it could have been 5 minutes.    Oh well……chalk that one up to I learned something new today….

One Lovely Blog Award…..

I have been nominated for the One lovely blog award, by letstalkaboutfamily.wordpress.com.  First off I would love to say Thank You.  When I am nominated for awards, I kind of go mushy inside, and realize that people are really reading my blog, and sometimes my inner most thoughts.

letstalkaboutfamily,  My friend Terry introduced me to her blog.  It is a woman who is dealing with her Father who has Alzheimer’s.  I have brief knowledge of this disease as well, as some of my family have dealt with it.

Since, I have received this award before, I already have the logo in my sidebar,   For those of you that have read my acceptance “speech’s”, you know I don’t necessarily like to nominate other people, because so people do not like to get awards.

But I will tell you, that if I find a blog that I really enjoy, I usually try to share it with people that read my blog.

Thanks again!

Terribly Sad….

Like most American‘s who woke up this morning, we were all saddend by the news of what happened in Colorado.  But then as the afternoon dawned, I realised something.

One of the fatalities, of this whole mess, was someone who wrote a blog I had read not so long ago.

For someone to have gone through this and survived, to be taken  later in the same sort of circumstance saddens me.

For all my fellow wordpress peeps.  Life is short, and can be stopped at any moment.  Live each day to the fullest.

WooHoo!! Sisterhood of the WorldBloggers Award….

I have been nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award by Terry1954.

The rules are, Give credit to the one who nominated you, that would be Terry1954.wordpress.com.  I have become friends with Terry, as we are dealing with similar situations.  I enjoy her blog, and hope you do to, go check her out.

Tell seven secrets about yourself,  uhm, this might be harder than it looks, because I don’t like to tell all….but ok here goes…

1.  I have a fascination with wolves, one room in my house is dedicated to them, with paintings, pictures, and statues.

2.  I really enjoy shooting guns.

3.  While my pictures might show that blond hair, I am truly a brunette, but blond seems to cover grey a lot better.

4.  I really hate to exercise, and truly have to force myself to do it.

5.  I like salt versus sweet.  Give me a bag of chips versus a candy bar, and I’m in heaven.

6.  I like to smile at random people to see if it makes their day.

7.  I find being short (uhm 4’11”) sometimes a serious problem when trying to reach the top shelf at Grocery Stores, Oh wait who am I kidding, I’m not allowed in them.  hehehe…  No, really most times I enjoy being short, but really hate when what I want is just above my reach.

Nominate seven others,

I have accepted awards before, and I always hate to nominate people, simply for the fact that I don’t know if they want to be nominated, but I will tell you a couple of peeps that I really enjoy,

kanatyler.com  I seriously enjoy her blog, I’ve followed her since the day I started my blog, and she has a really good blog going.  It always interests me and gives me a lot of different stuff to ponder, plus some really good giggles.

geniespeaks.wordpress.com  I am new to Genie’s blog, but I have enjoyed it, and some of the things she says, really hit home with me.

jmgoyder.com Julie and I must have sisters in another life, because I have read her blog, for oh so many months now.  We too are going through similar situations.

russtowne.com  I have recently started following Russ, and I know this is the Sisterhood blog award, but this man has so much insight and is really worth reading.

laughteriscatching.com  This is one of the first blogs I ever read when I first started blogging.  I have followed her forever.  From the time when she was unknown to being “Fresh Pressed”.  I enjoy her blog and her thoughts.

There are so many other’s that I follow, but these peeps, besides Terry1954.wordpress.com, are some of my favorites.

Thanks y’all for this honor.  I’m sorry I didn’t dress up (ok, I may be in my p.j.’s), But thanks again!!!!

WOW x2

Ok kids, now I’ve been completely blown away, in the past two days, I’ve received 2 blogger awards.  I don’t know how to act.  It is very rarely that I am “silenced” so to speak.

Thanks to Terry1954.wordpress.com for nominating me for this one.

The rules are the same for the other award I recieved, however, tonite I am to tired to do the rest, so I promise that I will finish this tomorrow, I was just so darn excited about the award, I wanted to acknowledge it .

WOW – I was nominated for an award!

I’ve been writing my blog for 9 months now.  I originally started writing my blog because, I had a lot of things to say, and emotions that I felt, and this was my way of releasing them.   In the first few months of my blog, I slowly got more readers.  When I hit over 400 (ok, maybe by 2), I was overwhelmed that so many people would be interested in anything I had to say.  (Actually, the Electrician would tell you I did a Happy dance all over the sports room, but since I’m writing this he won’t tell you.)

I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Southern-wild, and y’all really need to go check her out, at www.southern-wild.com.  I’ve been sneaking in and reading her page for quite a while.    She does some amazing photography.

With the award comes a list of rules:

1. Link Back to the person who nominated you
2. Write seven things about yourself
3. Nominate 15 or so fellow bloggers, and leave a note on their blog to let them know.

Ok, number one, check.

number 2.  Uhm.. 7 things about myself…  hmm….well ok here goes.

1.  I am exactly 4 feet and 11 inches tall, I had to get a waiver signed by the President of the United States to join the Air Force, because of the height requirement.  (Although what with getting older I may have shrunk to 4 feet and 10 1/2 inches)

2.   I worked in the Insurance Industry for over 20 years, but enjoyed being a waitress/bartender more than any other job I had.

3.  I conquered my fear of heights when I ziplined in Jamaica with my Sister-in-law.

4.  My world is my family.

5.  I am addicted to Food Network, and the Cooking Channel, and seriously think I should have just been a chef. (Although I do have some successes, don’t ask the Electrician about my messes.)

6.  I have realized in the wisdom of my 50 years, life is to short,(so am I) and things can change on a dime, so I try to live my life to the fullest each and everyday.

7. I have started working out lately, (The Electrician has done it for YEARS, and been bugging me to do it).  While I do work out everyday, if anyone were to see me (Because I will not work out if anyone can see me), I appreciate the fact that I am not the star in a workout video, and it’s pretty amusing to watch.  (The Electrician saw me working out, and actually laughed.  I guess I’m not the most coordinated person on the planet).

Ok, number 2, check.

Now onto some nominations.  And I will make a confession here, while I follow quite a few different blogs, there are only a few that I read on a daily basis.  I usually try to catch up with most of the others over the weekend.

So, with that being said, here are a few of my favorites.

terry1954.wordpress.com, Terry touches my heart, while we are in similar positions with Parkinson’s.  Terry cares for her brother Al, while I care for Momma, and we both go through a lot of the same emotions.  Terry is also a brilliant story-teller.

happinessstanlives.wordpress.com This blog rocks my world.  First off, I was raised in the part of London where they live.  The recipes and photo’s make me happy.

singlikenooneslistening.wordpress.com.  I have followed this blog since I started blogging.  Rachel was an Au Pair in Australia, who has since returned home back to the United States, and I have been a tourist of Australia through her.

kittyblogger.wordpress.com  I love this one simply because folks, I am a cat person and where they get the photo’s of cat’s floors me but it usually gives me a giggle.

jmgoyder.com.  I have followed this blog for quite a while.  She actually has two blogs, and I follow both of them.  Julie’s husband has Parkinson’s and we have shared a lot of things.

So, while I follow a lot more blogs than the above mentioned,  some of my other favorites have already received this esteemed award.

So….from Camsgranny, thanks y’all.  I feel special!  🙂

Hot Potato Award! WOOHOO!!

I was given an award by fellow blogger  jmgoyder.wordpress.com .  This is an award made up by Julie, and the fun thing is You can accept or not.  There are no rules to follow, no questions to answer.  You just accept it and put it in your blog, or not, the choice is up to you.  You can nominate anyone you want.

Thank you Julie!
